I had a horrible day at work yesterday, everything that could possibly go wrong had happened. All I could think about was how I wanted to get home. I just needed to get in my bed and close my eyes and forget that yesterday had happened. While I’m in bed for like 20 minutes I finally start to dose off but am disturbed by the sounds of someone knocking on my door. I’m thinking that they would go away so I just stayed there. The knocking kept going on, then the doorbell started ringing so finally I got up to see what the commotion was. I open the door and its my best friend from high school. I haven’t seen this guy in a really long time so I was excited to see him. I got in for a “man hug” and he stops mid way and says “Damn…you got fat as hell”.
I was like wow!!!! I had been feeling a little depressed these last couple of months and I hadn’t been taking care of myself the way that I should and I guess it shows. That was the wake up call that I needed. I’ve been so lazy and frustrated with so much stuff in my life that I am allowing all of these things to affect me. I’ve been neglecting my blog, been neglecting my workout, been neglecting my passion. Well, today I’m turning over a new leaf. It’s officially spring and I’m going to make my own days brighter.

There are two things that I feel like my close friends should know about me.
1. David Beckham is my “man crush”.
The entire reason that I started liking soccer is because of David Beckham. Well, I guess I owe most of the credit to his wife Victoria. I always thought that she was beautiful and I decided a long time ago that I was going to marry her. After dealing with the heartbreak of hearing that she was married, I decided to do a little research to see who this man was who stole my woman. Ever since then I’ve been a fan of his. I saw that he was an amazing soccer player which caught my eye. Then to my astonishment I found out that he was not only a soccer player but the dude had awesome style.
2. I’m obsessed with underwear.
Like literally obsessed. Last time I did a count a few years ago I totaled at 69. I know its sad but its true. Maybe I should go on Hoarders. I could get all personal and tell you what kind I wear but we’ll just leave that one for another blog post.
Anyway, that’s enough about me and my sick obsession. Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to announce that David Beckham has released his underwear line to the world:
David Beckham Bodywear!!
My two favorite things combined into one. I’ve never been happier. Sure the underwear is a little pricey. $12.95 for a pair of briefs and 14.95 for a pair of boxer briefs but from the looks of it, seems like its some high quality material.
Fashion and style go deeper than just pants and shirts. Every article of clothing should be a reflection of who you are.

I’m a guy!!! I sweaty guy!!!! I teach in a hot classroom all day, its 70 degrees in winter here, and I hit the gym on the weekly basis. All these things cause me to sweat a lot. Sweat = collar stains.

Here are my endorsements to get rid of sweat stains.
1.
Oxi-clean does some wonders on stains. I let my work shirts soak over night in some warm water and the stain is gone the next day. Nothing like wearing what looks like a brand new shirt.
2.
Gold Bond Body Powder is great for stopping excessive sweating. It can go anywhere… Really…anywhere. I use it daily just to make sure that I stay fresh.

There I am. Ready to kiss that perfect girl. We both lean in, she says “I’ve wanted this for a long time”. Our lips get closer and closer and then….
RIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! RIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGGGG!!!!! The alarm clock goes off.
That sound is the worst sound of my day. I then drag myself out of bed, get ready for work and before I know it, I’m complaining about how exhausted I am.
Then I have a revelation…..what if I didn’t have to wake up from the alarm clock.
I’m one of those people who wakes up at the same time everyday. 5:00am Sunday-Saturday. Its just the way that my body works since I started teaching. So instead of setting my alarm to wake me up at 5:00 I decided to have it go off at 5:55.
To most that sounds like 55 extra minutes of sleep. For me that means 55 extra minutes of getting work done. Since my body will naturally wake up at 5am i challenge myself to be ready for work by the time the alarm actually goes off.
By the time the alarm goes off, I’ve already, showered, shaved, ironed, fed the pets, got dressed, changed my outfit, got dressed again and even have enough time to write this blog post.
Feeling accomplished in the morning sets the tone for the rest of the day for me. Try it out, it may help.

This might seem like an old Catholic-school boy, but I also show up with a shirt and tie. Basically, they don’t know me from jack, and I’m going into their homes, their places of worship, their hospital rooms. A shirt and tie convey respect. It’s very basic stuff. It also conveys authority: I’m someone you should talk to. I mean, it’s not something I grew up doing. Hell, I was a rock critic for a number of years with a ripped t-shirt and a leather jacket. But this is a remarkably different game.
And dress shoes. Always wear dress shoes. People look at your shoes. Dress shoes say you’re important. They say you’re official. They say you’re employed. People respond to that. I’m nobody special; I just happened to be the dude in the shirt and tie. I’m always looking at these cats that show up looking like second-string Hunter S. Thompsons. People don’t respect them. Detectives don’t want to talk to them.

I love rugby. Here is Ralph Lauren’s Rugby style. This stuff is definitely too expensive for my taste, but its always good to get ideas
Today we celebrated Mass at the school to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. Whenever we have a school wide gathering in the gym an extra special dress code is always encouraged. All of the women are decked out in heels and jewelery and all of us guys are supposed to wear a suit, blazer, or sport coat. You can look around the gym and see so many different styles. I always look to see which guy chooses what to wear.
Lets start at the basis. Everyone knows what a suit is but what is the difference between blazer and a sport coat?
It’s all in the fabric!
A blazer is usually made with material that is sturdier than a suit jacket but thinner than a sport coat. They usually have patched pockets instead of flaps and usually two buttons in the front.

A sport coat on the other hand is usually made from earthy fabrics like tweed, have flap pockets and the traditional 3 buttons down the front.
I’m not so much a fan of sport coats as I am with blazers. I find that blazers tend to fit me better and in my opinion they are a little classier than a sport coat. I feel like they fit better and they are more versatile. It can be worn with anything from slacks to jeans. You can wear them with t-shirts under them:

But my personal is with the sweater underneath:
The key when buying a blazer is all about the sizing. You don’t want to get one that is too big and looks like it belong to your dad. You want one that fits your physique. You want it to be snug on the shoulders but not too tight where it can’t button.
When I was graduating from 8th grade, my dad told me to always button your jacket when you stand up and always unbutton it when you sit down. That’s something that I still practice to this day. Always doing my best to look my best. :)

Some people love to accessorize. I sit in my meetings at work and I see mostly the women with their necklaces and bracelets, their rings and broaches. Then the guys have their designer eye glasses, watches, cufflinks and their ties.
Accessories are meant to compliment the outfit, but the outfit should compliment the body.
You always want to find clothes that will compliment your body. I’m not only talking about the shape but also the skin tone. I am dark complected! If you had to call my skin tone a food, I would say that it is a the best piece of milk chocolate that anyone would ever taste. So because my skin is a darker color, I need to wear clothes that compliment that tone.
If I wear browns or oranges, dark purple or blues, they colors blend easily making me look like I fade into the background. So instead I wear bright colors such as turquoise and yellows and whites.
My man tip of the day or my “MIP” is to try to find shirts that compliment both the skin and the eyes. Its a double whammy!!! Its way easier to get someone to admire your body than it is to get lost in your eyes. Hahaha I know that was cheesy.
Accessorize your body with great style. Make your features the focal point of your outfit. More than getting complimented on my style, I love getting complimented on my smile.
Again, sorry for the cheese.

What if your favorite actor walked into your job today? What if the pope was in the car next to you? What if your next employer bumped into you while walking down the street? What would you say or better yet how would you look?
My friends always ask my advice on how to dress and my response is always “dress your best”.
You never know when you will run into someone important. If you look your best, nice shoes, pressed shirt, clean shoes…then they will feel like they ran into someone important too.

GQ got James Marsden on his take with the tweed suit. I’m not a big a fan of the tweed suit but I love how his suits fit. A well fitted suit speaks volumes. Also the way his socks match his shirts. That’s a style that I want to welcome for this new year.

Once again GQ has done it again. In their recent internet post “Wear It Now” they posted this picture. “Wallets are always black or brown. Why?” These guys know exactly what they are talking about. Here is the link:
